St. Stephen's Church
Rosary Society

The Rosary Society of St. Stephen's Parish has both a social and religious function, fostering public and private recitation of the rosary as well as being a meeting place for the women of the parish. During the summer months, the society meets at the grotto once a month to say the Rosary.  All members of the parish are invited. Presently the Rosary Society has 22 members.  The society meets four times a year.  Among the parish functions that the society supports are:
Preparing Polish foods for the annual summer parish festival.  The kitchen is the major source of revenue for the festival and has earned a deserved reputation in the area for the Polish cuisine. Over the past few years, the society has begun a new Lenten tradition of preparing pierogi every week for sale. This venture has attracted customers city-wide and even out of town. The Farmer's Market is another venue where the Society prepares Polish food (golabki, kapusta, kielbasa sandwiches) for sale to market goers, twice a year.  This is a great opportunityh to advertise St. Stephen's, who and what we are. Another long-standing tradition is the visits to shut-ins by Society members at Christmas time, bringing a poinsettia to brighten someone's day.  This year, 17 poinsettias were distributed to the shut-ins of the Parish. The Society also prepares and serves cookies, refreshments and light fare for Parish celebrations such as Confirmation, First Communion, May Crowning, as well as welcomings and farewells, offering an opportunity for parishioners to gather together and interact.

On a social level, the quarterly meetings of the Rosary Society offer an opportunity for members to share their ideas and visit over light refreshments while business is conducted with the Pastor.  It holds a summer picnic, usually at a member's home, where members can share the dishes each one has prepared and visit together.  At Christmas time, the Society sponsors a Christmas party at a local restaurant where our Pastor breaks Oplatek with all the members.

At the present time, the officers of the Rosary Society are:
President  -  Zosia Lupa
Vice President  - Judy Coniski
Secretary  -  Anne Moody
Treasurer  -  Mary Gosek

New Members are always welcome to join, participate and offer their talents to keep the society vibrant and thriving.
